Slate is released freely by Brian Rice and Lee Salzman under the MIT Public License (http://www.opensource.org/licenses/mit-license.php), a simple license which permits commercial re-use, although we do encourage contributions.

When Slate is mature, we will consider providing commercial support, but the basic platform and its source will always be provided freely.
